Mendengar ialah satu daripada proses komunikasi dalam pembelajaran. Mendengar merupakan proses
rangsangan di mana pelajar menerima maklumat yang disampaikan. Proses mendengar yang berkesan akan membantu pelajar mengikuti pelajaran, memahami, mengingat dan membuat catatan.Terdapat beberapa faktor yang mempengaruhi aktiviti pendengaran. Antaranya ialah keadaan fizikal pendengar dan penyampai, keletihan mendengar, jarak atau kedudukan, suasana persekitaran, gaya penyampaian dan pengetahuan penyampai. Namun begitu apa yang lebih penting, penulis menyatakan teknik untuk mendengar secara berkesan perlu diamalkan seperti berikut.

Mulailah proses mendengar dengan berdoa dan meminta perlindungan Allah.
Hendaklah berkeadaan siap sedia.
Menyediakan peralatan untuk mencatat dan menulis bahan yang didengar.
Duduk berhampiran dengan penyampai supaya maklumat yang diperolehi adalah tepat.
Menumpukan pendengaran, fikiran dan perhatian terhadap maklumat yang disampaikan.
Telah mengetahui serba sedikit tajuk yang akan disampaikan.
Sentiasa menjangka apakah fakta dan keterangan yang akan disampaikan.
Menumpukan perhatian sepenuhnya terhadap apa yang disampaikan.
Mengelakkan gungguan-gangguan persekitaran.
Mendengar sambil mencatat.
